You
will find us easily enough if you follow these
directions. Without them, you are unlikely to
find us at all, as we are tucked away off the
main road. This is indeed a hidden and secret
place, and you will need a permit to get in. Our
guests with reservations will receive a permit, a
gate pass and a gate key when they arrive, and
will become temporary but full members of our
rather exclusive club!
Officially, the Estate we are in is called
"Middlevlei", but most locals still
know it as "Meerensee". If you need to
ask for directions, ask for
"Meerensee".From
Cape Town:
Find your way onto the N2 to Caledon, George and
so on. If you are coming from the airport, then
follow the signs to Somerset West until you reach
the N2. Drive over Sir Lowry's Pass, past Grabouw
and Houwhoek to the turnoff signposted Kleinmond
and Hermanus. Take this turnoff.
**** About 15km along this road
is a turning to Kleinmond - DON'T take this!
Carry on for about another 8 km to the first
turnoff to your right. This is the only turnoff
to Fisherhaven, and has signposts saying
"Fisherhaven" and another saying
"Meerensee".
[If you reach a sign saying "Hawston",
then you have gone too far, and must turn back.]
At the Fisherhaven turnoff, turn right
through white gate posts at each side of the
road, and drive to the first stop sign. Beware of
the speed control hump on this stretch of road -
it can knock your teeth out if you hit it at more
than about 20km per hour. At the stop sign are
signs to the left saying "Sandown Bay"
and "Meerensee". Follow the road to
the left, which takes a bend to the
right (and then another hump in the road) and
ends at a T-junction. Turn left here,
and about a hundred meters further is a turning
to the right with signs for Sandown Bay,
Meerensee and Meerenbosch.Turn right onto
this road which is made of cement, and drive to
our entrance gate, which is signed MIDDLEVLEI.
The gate guard will have a
gate pass for you with a map showing you how to
find your rondavel. The key will be either
with the gate guard or at the estate office
further down the road on the right hand side, and
signposted "Reception". If you

From Johanesburg:
Get yourself onto the N1 towards Cape Town. When
you reach Worcester, turn off to Worcester and
then find the R43 to Villiersdorp.
Immediately after passing through Villiersdorp
take the R43 turning left to
Caledon. This turnoff is not more than a
couple of hundred metres past Villiersdorp and
can be a bit confusing, as the road running
straight is the R45 to Franschhoek and the R321
to Grabouw. After turning onto the R43,
travel for about 30km when you will join the
N2. Turn right towards
Cape Town. Drive along the N2 for about
20km, and take the turnoff to
Bot Rivier and Hermanus. Continue
from **** in the "from Cape Town"
instructions above.
From the Garden Route:
Find your way onto the N2 towards Cape Town, and
follow it until past Caledon. About 23 km
beyond Caledon is a turnoff signposted
"HERMANUS / BOTRIVIER". Take
this turnoff. Follow the road to
the stop sign and turn left
towards Hermanus. You will soon come to a
T-junction, and again turn left
towards Hermanus. Continue
from **** in the "from Cape Town"
instructions above.
